DESCRIPTION
Visomotin is a SkQ - a class of mitochondrial-directed antioxidants. In particular, SkQ is a lipophilic cation connected through a saturated hydrocarbon moiety with an antioxidant. Due to lipophilicity, SkQ effectively penetrates the cell membranes. At the same time, the positive charge provides targeted delivery of the attached antioxidant to the negatively charged mitochondrial matrix.
